Cross-Institutional Study
Oamk students can apply to cross-institutional studies offered by the University of Oulu. Find the course catalogue and application from University of Oulu website.
Substituting cross-institutional studies to your degree
After the cross-insitutional studies are completed and assessed Oamk students can substitute their cross-institutional studies through Recognition and Accredidation of Learning (HOT) in Peppi. Note that the course should be in your PSP so that it can be subsituted by course completed elsewhere.

Cross-institutional study is an opportunity for a higher education student to complete studies from another institution.
- Students must be higher education institution degree students with an annual registration status as ‘present’.
- Students will have a temporary study right in their target institution and the study right will be valid for the duration of the cross-institutional studies.
- Students can choose courses that have been listed in a network agreement about cross-institutional studies. These courses can be found in a course catalogue on this page.
- The rules of the institution that organizes the teaching must be followed.
- The assessments are made and registered in the target institution and the credits can be transferred to home institution by accreditation of learning.

CampusOnline
CampusOnline is a year-round digital course offering provided jointly by Finnish universities of applied sciences. You can select courses from other universities of applied sciences free of charge and include the studies in your degree. Before enrolling, check from your tutor teacher (or head of the degree programme) that the course is suitable for your degree.
The courses are free of charge for degree students (Bachelor’s/Master’s) at universities of applied sciences and for Open UAS path students. Also students from schools of professional teacher education and exchange students may select courses and complete the courses free of charge.
The registration practices for cross-institutional studies are currently changing as a new national service channel for cross-institutional studies is being gradually implemented in higher education institutions.
Currently, there are two alternative registration methods for cross-institutional courses, and the enrollment method depends on which higher education institution you are enrolling in.
The registration methods are:
- Enrollment via Peppi
- Enrollment via CampusOnline website
Enrollment via Peppi
Registration for CampusOnline studies is easily done through Peppi, in the same way you would enroll in Oamk’s own courses. Find the course in Peppi by selecting the cross-institutional offer only. You can also see the registration status in your personal study plan (PSP), and after completing the course, the assessments will be transferred to your study records without the need for recognition of prior learning (RPL/AHOT) or sharing links from the My Studyinfo webpage.
You can easily find cross-institutional courses through Peppi via your personal study plan (PSP). You can also browse the courses on the CampusOnline portal, but register through Peppi whenever possible. Peppi Instructions.
Enrollment via CampusOnline website (Cross-institutional courses that cannot be found in Peppi)
You can familiarize yourself with the courses on CampusOnline through the CampusOnline portal. Unlike before, there are now separate registration periods for each UAS on CampusOnline. Please make sure to explore the courses well in advance. Register for CampusOnline courses according to the course-specific instructions found on the portal.

When you enroll via Peppi, the completion is automatically transferred to your PSP/HOPS. If you haven’t enrolled via Peppi, you can transfer the CampusOnline study completion to Peppi according to the following instructions:
Fill in the accreditation of learning application for the course in Peppi. The application must be accompanied by documentation of your CampusOnline studies. You can document your CampusOnline studies from My Studyinfo -service and share data from there. NOTE: Site is only in Finnish!
Go to My Studyinfo -site and log in (top right corner of the site). You can access My Studyinfo only by logging in via Suomi.fi e-Identification.
Select “Siirry opintosuorituksiin” (Proceed to studies).
Select “Jaa suoritustietoja” (Share data).
Click studies what you want to share and then click button “Jaa valitsemasi opinnot” (Share your chosen studies).
The site creates a link to the studies you have chosen. Copy the link and paste the link into Word. Save the file.
Fill in the accreditation of learning application for the course in Peppi (Accreditation of learning HOT) and add this document (word file with a link) as an attachment to your application instead of a transcript of records.

Sports career and studying
Oulu University of Applied Sciences is part of the Sports Academy of Oulu (OSUA), a collaboration network that helps combine studying and a sports careers. The athletes are provided support with their studies with the help of personal study plans. The Academy of Sport is meant for students who compete at or who aim towards Finnish Championship level in their age group.
Asian Studies Programme
MOOC-courses on Asia / University Network for Asian Studies
University Network for Asian Studies will organize MOOC courses, that the degree and exchange students of Oamk are able to complete free of charge.
In the academic year 2023 – 2024 MOOC courses will be offered as follows:
- Johdatus Itä-Aasiaan (3 cr) 2.10. – 17.12.2023, language of instruction Finnish
- Johdatus Kaakkois-Aasiaan (3 cr) 2.10. – 17.12.2023, language of instruction Finnish
- Johdatus Etelä-Aasiaan (3 cr) 5.2. – 5.5.2024, language of instruction Finnish
- Introduction to Business in East and Southeast Asia (3 cr), 8.1. – 7.4.2023, language of instruction English
The courses are based on textbooks, and they contain various assignments such as quizzes, summaries and peer reviews. The courses can be taken independently in the DigiCampus-learning environment during the course periods. Students who complete the courses successfully, will get a certificate.
If you would like to have Asian Studies included in your degree at Oulu University of Applied Sciences, please be in contact with the Head of your Degree Programme.
In addition to these free of charge courses, other online courses on Asia are available against payment.
You can apply for the non-MOOC courses through the course registration of the Asian studies network (3 times a year before the beginning of the semester) and pay the study fee of a separate right student 250 €, that entitles you to complete 25 credits of Asian studies.
The Centre for East-Asia of the Universi of Turku (CEAS) offers also the following China courses:
- Introduction to Chinese Politics and Society: First course start in January 15, 2024
- Introduction to EU-China Relations: First course start in February 12, 2024
Circumpolar studies
The Circumpolar Studies program of the University of the Arctic (UArctic) is an exciting way for students attending University of the Arctic member institutions to learn about the North, with courses held online and around the world in other UArctic member institutions.
The Circumpolar Studies program gives students the opportunity to learn about the lands, peoples, and issues of the circumpolar world and prepares them for advanced study or professional employment e.g. in fields of sustainable resource management, self-government, Arctic engineering, and northern tourism. Special emphasis is given to matters concerning Indigenous people of the Circumpolar North. The Circumpolar Studies program consists of a single introductory course and six advanced courses in three interdisciplinary fields of study. Together, the core enables students to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of the lands, peoples, and critical issues of the circumpolar world.
Students of Oulu University of Applied Sciences can include Circumpolar Studies in free-choice studies, or upon agreement with the Head of Studies they can supplement the degree completed here, or studies can also compensate studies of the curriculum of student’s degree programme. Students completing Circumpolar Studies have a priority when selecting students to the north2north student mobility programme which gives them a chance to complete part of their studies onsite in another north2north member institution.

Students must register for the studies to the UArctic International Academic Offce in Canada.
