Tuition Fees and Scholarships for Bachelor´s Degree

According to the legislation Institutes of Higher Education in Finland must charge tuition fees from the students coming outside of the European Union and the European Economic Area when applying to English taught degree programmes.

The size of the tuition fee varies between the different schools and the different programmes offered by the particular school. The higher educational establishments can decide themselves on the arrangements regarding the collection of the fees. There is early bird discount available for new selected students as well as extra stipend for everyone who has to pay the tuition fee. You can find more information in the sections below.

Please note that from the spring 2022 onward the legislation has changed and the new students applying for student visa will receive continuous residence permit A based on their study place (previous residence permit B). This permit, however, will not give exemption from the tuition fee. The grounds for the permit are stated in the card (student).

The amount of the tuition fee for Bachelor’s degree for non-EU/EEA/Switzerland students is 10 000€ per academic year.

The tuition fee entitles the student to study and receive a degree and to use the normal support services available for students. Average monthly living cost for a student is estimated to be about 900–1200 euros. According to Finnish Immigration Service, in addition to the amount of the tuition fee, the student has to have at least 9600 euros / academic year available to cover the living costs.
