Financial Aid for Students
The Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela) grants financial aid for students. Please note that Kela benefits are available to non-citizens of Finland only in some cases.
The financial aid for students is granted at the earliest from the beginning of the application month and cannot be applied for retrospectively. The financial aid for students includes the study grant, provider supplement and government guarantee for a student loan.
General housing allowance depends on the income of the household. You can apply for general housing allowance when you know your housing costs and living conditions. You can receive housing allowance retrospectively for the month preceding the month of application.
