Proof of Concept funding

Students and staff can apply for funding to test a new idea aimed at growth (200-5000€). This funding channel is called Proof of Concept (PoC) funding. The funding supports and accelerates the commercialization of new ideas in Oulu’s educational institutions.

We will assess your idea with you before applying and assist you in preparing the application.

We recommend participating in one of the programs that support business idea testing. These may include the Business Incubator, Founder’s Corner, or Startup Express program.

Applying is easy, and the process is straightforward

Here’s how it proceeds:

  1. Submitting the application
  2. Decision
  3. Implementation
  4. Further development
  5. Decision on starting a company

The funding can be used for various purposes, such as building a prototype, technical implementation, potential travel costs, concept design, and staff salary costs.

Funding criteria:

  • A novel concept that needs to be tested.
  • If successful, it generates new, employment-creating, growth-oriented business.
  • The applicant is a student/team from an educational institution in Oulu or a staff member employed by the institution.
  • Established companies are not eligible for support.
