Digital Learning Centre of Competence-based Excellence

Oamk has internationally recognised profound mastery in competence-based education and training. Oamk is establishing a Digital Learning Centre of Competence-based Excellence to study, enhance and promote digital pedagogy and competence-based approach in higher education to meet the incremental changes in the world of work. With competence-based excellence we aim to promote a sustainable form of education and training to increase individuals’ capabilities based on already acquired competences

The initial stage of the Centre is OamkDigComp – Machines! -project that aims to develop competence-based approach in higher education to support professional excellence in digital learning and more general to meet the incremental changes in the world of work. Due to these significant changes, it has become increasingly important to develop trainings that meet the requirements of digitised working life. Such trainings must increase individuals’ capabilities using a sustainable form of competence-based education and training. We simply can no longer afford to begin trainings from ground zero.

COVID-19 has shown us that is not enough to be brilliant in pedagogically effective and meaningful digital learning, but we also need to promote digital competences to remotely access and operate machines and equipment needed in different disciplines. OUAS’s expertise in digital solutions is founded on strong experience in developing new mobile technologies e.g. 5G, 6G and wireless connectivity in close cooperation with working life. To face the challenging economic situation in various sectors, we seek to engage the full power of digital transformation to enhance students’ agency, expertise and working life skills in ongoing learning and professional development, and finally accelerate their employment in the new future growth industries. We seek to create and expand internationally and become the future European level Centre of Competence-based Excellence in Digital Learning.
