Curricula

Qualifications

In Finland, teacher’s profession is regulated by national legislation. The eligibility requirements for teaching posts and positions are stated in the Teaching Qualifications Decree (986/1998).

The completion of professional teacher education studies fulfills the requirement concerning teacher’s pedagogical studies defined by Decree 986/1998 for all levels of Finnish education system. Professional teacher education gives you the qualification to work as a teacher in your field.

Tutors

Tutors are your close instructors throughout your study path. They support you in your own professional growth and development. Together with your tutors at the School of Professional Teacher Education the guiding teachers are responsible for the guidance and support for your professional growth during your teaching practice

There are several learning environments and electronic services which support you on your way to becoming a professional teacher. In your studies, you have access to several services.

Benefits for Students

Meals

As a student in the School of Professional Teacher Education, in the beginning of your studies you will receive a Kela meal subsidy card in accordance with the criteria for full-time employment for the first academic year. The card entitles you to a student priced meal in all student restaurants participating in the scheme – Finland wide.  You can find the student restaurants in Finland on the Kela website.

Kela’s electronic meal subsidy card is not available to teacher education students.
