STARTS LAB Oulu project aims to strengthen the innovation, competitiveness, growth, and internationalization of audiovisual, gaming, and technology companies in Northern Ostrobothnia. The project supports the development of new products, services, and business models by combining creativity with technology. The measures include investments, building a test platform, workshops, and technology demonstrations that foster the technical expertise of companies and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. Additionally, the project builds international networks, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and market access for regional actors.

Project Goals

The STARTS LAB Oulu project aims to enhance the innovation capacity and competitiveness of the audiovisual, gaming, and technology industries, as well as other companies providing XR/VR services in Northern Ostrobothnia, while promoting their growth and internationalization. The project’s goal is to establish sustainable collaboration models between the fields of art, technology, and science in the region. At the core of the initiative is the integration of creative skills and technology to develop new, innovative products, services, and business models.

Project Measures

Key measures include investments related to the establishment of STARTS LAB Oulu, the construction of a test platform, the planning of processes related to its use, innovation workshops, and technology demonstrations and pilots, all of which support the development of participating companies and organizations.

Expected Outcomes of the Project

The project is expected to significantly improve the technical expertise of regional companies and foster new interdisciplinary collaboration. STARTS LAB Oulu also aims to create and strengthen international cooperation networks that enable the exchange of knowledge and the dissemination of best practices. Through these efforts, the project supports the entry of regional actors into international markets and promotes the commercialization of innovative products and services. STARTS LAB Oulu represents a new step towards a more sustainable, innovative, and internationally competitive Northern Ostrobothnia.

This project is co-financed by the European Union’s European Regional Development Fund, with funding granted by the Centre for Economic Development, Transport, and the Environment for Northern Ostrobothnia.
