R&D environment for sustainable autonomous Work Machines (AutoWork)
1 January 2023 - 30 September 2025
Engineering and Engineering TradesThe AutoWork project aims to establish capabilities to support the development of autonomous work machine control systems.
Integrating autonomous work machines into work environments and cycles is particularly challenging and requires specialized expertise. This expertise has been developed over decades in Finnish companies and research institutions.
The goal of the AutoWork project is to ensure that Finnish companies and research institutions maintain this competitive advantage and become world-leading manufacturers of autonomous work machines in the coming years. Key to this is having purpose-built, world-class research environments for the study of autonomous driving. The ability to combine the physical and digital worlds using validated simulation models is one crucial requirement for this.
Project Measures
The AutoWork project will enhance the capabilities of Oulu University of Applied Sciences’ NUVE-LAB environment to support the development of autonomous control systems for work machines. The project will develop methods for validating and calibrating digital twins to ensure their accuracy. Additionally, procedures and practices necessary for managing the NUVE-LAB software environment will be established.
