Entrepreneurs and students come together at Oamk’s events during Northern Finland Entrepreneurship Week from September 2nd to 6th.
Oamk supports the creation of new businesses and leads the development of startup activities for university students in Oulu. We are working to develop the region’s startup ecosystem, bringing together people and ideas from diverse backgrounds, and creating future solutions as well as profitable businesses.
“Studies are an excellent time to start developing entrepreneurial skills, as there is plenty of inspiration, support, and events available that help build professional skills and prepare you for the working world,” says Anne Sorvari, Oamk’s Development Manager for Startup Entrepreneurship Activities.
Oamk is also playing a role in Pohjat, Northern Finland Entrepreneurship Week, from September 2nd to 6th, 2024. Pohjat brings together northern Finnish entrepreneurs and those interested in entrepreneurship. It is a forum where we both celebrate the resilient entrepreneurship of the North and lay the groundwork for future entrepreneurial endeavors. We learn and get inspired through speeches, workshops, and discussions with like-minded individuals.
“In entrepreneurship, regional collaboration is especially important. Oamk wants to be involved in celebrating local entrepreneurs and opening the path to entrepreneurship for students as well,” Sorvari emphasizes.

Growth Fuel for Entrepreneurs – stories of entrepreneurship from those who have made it. Speakers include Anna Rounaja, entrepreneur and creative director at Liikuntakeskus Hukka, and Pekka Selin, entrepreneur at Koivurannan Kahvila and Seikkailupuisto Huikia.

Throughout the week, events will take place all around Oulu. For instance, on Tuesday, September 3rd, the Pohjakeskustelu Panel at Rotuaari will discuss transportation connections in the Oulu region, and on Friday, September 6th, BusinessAsema will showcase its new premises on Sepänkatu during the event BusinessAsema 2.0 – with briefings on services and upcoming events.
