eMobiili Hybridi- ja sähköajoneuvojen alueellisen koulutuksen uudistaminen

1 October 2019 - 30 June 2023

Engineering and Engineering Trades

eMobiili aims to reform regional education on hybrid and electric vehicles.

The project is developing fresh educational content and a unified training model for the rapidly evolving automotive and machinery industry. eMobiili is positioning Oulu as a leading hub for automotive technology expertise in Finland. We provide competence upgrading training on new automotive technologies. The courses developed within eMobiili are designed to specifically address the needs of the business sector and are targeted towards personnel from small and medium-sized enterprises, educators, researchers, and unemployed individuals with a background in automotive studies. The project’s courses focus on hybrid and electric vehicle technology as well as mobile hydraulics. The courses will commence in spring 2021.

New technologies will eventually replace old combustion engine-driven vehicles and machinery, and due to climate objectives, emissions management has become increasingly important. Hybrid and electric vehicles are entering the market and utilizing biofuels, as well as autonomous or semi-autonomous machines and equipment. The eMobiili project helps to align automotive and machinery industry education with this challenge.

A Unique Educational Path in the Automotive and Machinery Sector

Due to technological disruptions, there is a clear need in the automotive and machinery industries for additional training for employees. The project enables continuous learning not only for machinery operators but also for educators and researchers. eMobiili is building a unique educational path that prepares for future challenges in the industry.

The project aims to update the skills of individuals with automotive education backgrounds through pilot training, develop educational content for new automotive and machinery technologies, and establish a common regional education model in Oulu to enhance expertise in the field.

Oulu – a Center for Automotive and Machinery Technology Education

In collaboration with Oulu University of Applied Sciences, Oulu Vocational College, and the University of Oulu, the project will develop automotive and machinery education content for various educational levels and establish a regional education portal. The project complements the Mobilab project being developed in Linnanmaa, Oulu, by enhancing the content of expertise and bringing the experience and knowledge of virtual automotive education environments from Oulu Vocational College to higher education institutions. It also promotes the development of education content related to machinery technologies.

The project aims to enhance cooperation and expertise in automotive and machinery education across all organizations. Strengthening collaboration in regional education hubs creates new activities and improves students’ opportunities to transition between educational levels. Collaboration between different organizations improves the ability to respond to changing needs of businesses and society. The aim of close collaboration in the automotive and machinery education hub is to position the Oulu region as a leading developer of automotive and machinery education at all educational levels in Finland.

eMobiili is developing educational content utilizing the Mobilab development environment

eMobiili is part of the same project family as the NUVE and MobiLab projects. The NUVE project is developing a common platform for the development of autonomous and semi-autonomous machinery. MobiLab is an energy-efficient automotive and machinery technology development environment being constructed in Linnanmaa, Oulu.

Mobilab, being built in Linnanmaa, Oulu, is a research and development environment for automotive and machinery technology. It is being integrated into educational activities and cooperation between educational institutions and businesses. Mobilab EAKR project is an investment project aimed at building a unique research and development environment in Finland. It aims to enhance international activities of educational institutions and facilitate the approval of new research, development, and education projects.

The eMobiili project is coordinated by Oulu University of Applied Sciences, with the Department of Mechanical Engineering being responsible.
