Coast Good to Know

Hailuoto is an island in the Bothnia Bay, located ca. 50 km from Oulu. 

The easiest way to reach Hailuoto is to fly to Oulu and take a taxi or a rental car from the airport to Hailuoto. The ride to Hailuoto includes a free, 30min ferry trip from Oulunsalo. The ferry schedule can be found from FinFerries’ webpage. 

We advise you to book your accommodation as soon as possible since there is only a limited number of rooms available. We suggest that you share rooms with your colleagues if possible. The room prices can be found here room prices pdf. 

Rooms at the Arctic Lighthouse Hotel can be booked only by e-mail (info@luotsihotelli.fi). In your reservation mention ”COAST” and the type of room you wish to stay in. 

Self-service cottage accommodations are also available and can be found from Hailuoto’s webpages. Some of the cottages are located in rural areas and it may be necessary to rent a car or use taxi services to get to and from the conference venue. Public transportation is not available in Hailuoto.

The city of Oulu offers multiple accommodation possibilities that can be found e.g., from booking.com, hotels.com or ebookers.com. However, we recommend staying in Hailuoto as travelling from Oulu takes approximately 90 minutes.
