An external email will be labeled “External”

We increase the security of emails by adding “External” or in Finnish “Ulkoinen” to the header information of messages from outside the house.

This is useful information for the recipient, as they can check the address of the external sender, for example by hovering the mouse over the sender’s name. The sender’s name may be the same as the co-worker’s, but the address is external. This is to reduce the risk of phishing messages, for example, where the message is quickly opened and continued by clicking on the link in it.

The feature will be available at both universities during the week. The mention will only appear in new messages after the introduction.

• Outlook for Windows: available in May 2021 and higher
• Outlook mobile (iOS & Android): version 4.2111.0 and higher
• Outlook for Mac: version 16.47 and higher
